Volunteering options
Our volunteers provide a vital role at Harrogate Neighbours; they come from all kinds of backgrounds and vary in age. Depending on the type of activities you want to volunteer for, you may need certain qualifications or training.
We ask that you’re able to make a regular commitment; for example, our Meals on Wheels service ( Food Angels) would require a minimum of two deliveries every month. Each lunchtime delivery will take about an hour and a half.
You will have to undergo background checks as you will be working with vulnerable people and the safety of those people is our priority. Although we are keen to build a big team of volunteers we will not accept anyone who could pose a risk.
If you are a successful applicant, you’ll need to undertake certain training to meet safeguarding and safety compliance requirements. You will get full support from our team, and we are there to help you get the most out of your volunteering.
There are many ways that volunteers can get involved. Please consider how you could help.

Volunteering can really make a difference to the lives of the elderly, and it can make a difference to your life, too. You get to do something valuable and give back to your community. And you will also make new friends, have fun, and meet some wonderful people.
If you have recently come out of education, cut down your working hours, retired or have more time on your hands then why not do something worthwhile? You will be surprised how much it can enrich your life.
